Can You Get a Stair Lift for Curved Stairs?

When installing a stair lift for stairs that turn, it’s a little more challenging than installing on a straight staircase. A less expensive solution for a stair lift around corners involves using two straight stair lifts, but adding the challenge of changing chairs mid-way can be the right choice but isn’t the wisest decision if the client has or will have difficulty standing and transferring.  This can increase  the risk of falling. Having a curved stair lift installed is a much more effective and safer solution for clients with limited or decreasing mobility. 

What is a Curved Stair Lift?

A curved stair lift is custom configured to fit your staircase bottom to top. Stair lifts that go around corners require a special rail that smooth out the bends to accommodate steep angles of your staircase, so it fits perfectly (and takes up less of your stair space).   

How Much Does a Curved Stair Lift Cost?

Manufacturing and installing curved stair lifts used to be expensive in the past, but due to advancements in manufacturing processes, a stairlift on curved stairs is much easier to afford and install today. Each curved stair lift is a custom application so it requires a quote process to determine your needs, but as a general statement, a curved stair lift typically runs from $14,000 and more depending on the number of turns and complexity of the staircase.  This includes installation by our trained stair lift technicians.
